It has rained off & on since January in the Silole Sanctuary & as a result all is green & fresh & the landscape seems to move as you watch as the wind blows through the long tall grass…..
 
Do come & visit us & for couples we have a new option: MASAI LODGE COTTAGE, a very private cosey cottage in the corner of the Masai Lodge compound with inspiring views over the Park. This is self-catering & comes with it’s own fully equipped kitchen. Otherwise you may wander over the Lodge to enjoy meals there…..

The Park is looking very green & there is grass everywhere & most of the zebra (est.4,000 ) are out of the park, though plenty can be found in the Athi Basin together with the eland, who no longer (sensibly) go out of the Park.

Lions have been seen in the Sanctuary on many occasions as they are fairly hungry in the absence of their main prey, zebra & black rhino tracks are common in the Empakasi Valley, so better to walk up on the plains with resident impala & warthog.
 
My son & I recently saw an AARDWOLF (termite eating hyena) in the Sanctuary: it is nice to know that these unusual & rare creatures find a home with us…..
