Entry to Nairobi National Park is fairly complicated & it is best to make arrangements PRIOR to your visit to the Silole Sanctuary (so that you can access the Sanctuary through the Park & leave in the same way & in order to access the Park during your stay.)

All resident visitors to the Park MUST have a KWS Smartcard. These can either be processed for you at the Smartcard office at KWS HQ at Langata Road OR you may obtain a temporary card from the same office on the day of your visit. Of course if you are staying in the Sanctuary this entails a trip across the park to arrange .

Overseas visitors have to pay $40 to enter the park & this amount may be entered onto your (resident’s) smartcard. In other words a smartcard is NOT necessary for a visitor from overseas.

Park Entry rates are as follows: Overseas visitors $40, Residents 1,000 Ksh, Citizens 200 ksh.
Children are 500 ksh & Citizens 100 ksh respectively.

If you are coming to the Silole Sanctuary for the weekend, it is best to take the trouble to load your smartcard in advance, which can then be processed at Masai Gate as & when you visit the Park.
